Georgia, like Ukraine and Moldova, applied last year to join the European Union, but it accepted the files of Ukraine and Moldova and suspended the Georgia file because some Georgian laws are impossible to fit the spirit of the European Union. There is a great desire among the Georgian people and its elite to join the European Union, but Moscow still controls the deep state in Georgia and tries to erase any Georgian hope to approach the European Union as well as Nato.
