A Gateway to Africa: Regarding Economy and Security, Algeria holds the Keys

The coming stage of the race for Leadership and Dominance will be expressed through some important confrontations between the 3 great powers of today’s world: on one side the United States and its NATO allies, the European Union and on the other side, Russia and its friend, China.

Africa will soon attract the whole World like a magnet, and Algeria, due to its key place both economically and in terms of security, is its Entrance Door. Russia’s recent invasion of Ukraine marks a turning point in the history of Europe since World War 2. This situation raises the problem of a Europe in a state of complete dependence with Russia concerning its gas supply. The European countries are now trying hard to find a solution, evaluating all possibilities to be able to fulfill their needs in oil and gas without Russia being involved. Sooner or later, they will come to the point that the solution is right here, very close by, somewhere south of the Continent.

Algeria, thanks to its immeasurable resources, is indeed the only reliable supplier that could possibly provide the whole Europe with oil and gas. The gas pipeline project, connecting Nigeria and Algeria, crossing Italy, Switzerland and Germany, as well as the countries of Eastern Europe will be a revolutionary project! It will give a new life to the African Continent, in a perspective of sustainable development. All Mediterranean countries will see their benefits because the issue of illegal immigration will be eradicated.

Possessing the second or the third largest reserve of shale gas in the world, Algeria seeks to undertake a new strategy to deal with its Economy with establishing a partnership with the United States, the only country that really excels in that field and could help in the management of shale gas. In medium terms, contracts with large international companies such as Chevron will be signed to deal with the use of shale gas in Algeria.

The very special status that Algeria has, comes from its great ability to deal with Security. Through its disinterested policy and having as the only ambition to solve conflicts with respecting the sovereignty of the states and the aspirations of their people, Algeria, as a commercial route to Africa, is the one country that holds economic benefits. Its expertise in the field of Security and the high professionalism of its army, make Algeria a true guardian of peace and security. In Libya for instance, Algeria condemns any interference from abroad and insists on the departure of all mercenaries from the country, in order to give Libya its power back. In Mali, through the inclusive Algiers Accord, between the Azawad group in northern Mali and the central government in Bamako, Algeria wants to promote peace and stability in the area of Sahel: dialogue, local development, weakening of terrorism supported by a moderate religious discourse, zero tolerance for ransoms and drug traffics as they constitute a source of financing terrorism.

Sahel region has become an area of conflicting interests between several warring powers. Through diverse loans and investments, through the presence of the Wagner mercenaries in Mali, Russia and China are trying to take control over Africa. The United States, meanwhile, wants to prevent the growth of terrorist groups in Africa that may spread in Europe and in other parts of the world.

Algeria, as the gateway to Africa, acts as the heart of the continent’s development. Algeria, in close collaboration with other countries of the continent, seeks to develop on one side a partnership with the United States, while on the other side, wants to still honour its agreements with Russia regarding the matter of military equipment supply, and with China through certain economic investments that play an essential part on the Silk Road.

The stability of the African continent rests on the knees of Algeria; it seems like its leaders are looking for the perfect formula that responds as closely as possible to the needs of each of the three great world powers, and remains in harmony with the interests of the African continent as a whole.

Africa will be at the base of major transformations in the world, marked by the revival of the Algeria-Rome axis, within which Algeria will be the Gateway to Africa and Italy, the Gateway to Europe, with the support of the United States.
